Hamburg’s fabulous concert hall complex plays host to a rare concert by the renowned Italian mezzo-soprano singing music by Pergolesi (Stabat Mater) and Vivaldi. Barry Kosky’s production of Handel’s Agrippina is at the Staatsoper the following evening with Verdi’s La Traviata completing our stay on the final evening. 
We will visit Hamburg’s fine Kunsthalle, the Dreichstrasse with its wooden houses, and the miniature wonderland containing the world’s largest model railway. There will be free time to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the exceptional Christmas Markets

Day 1 
We meet at the hotel close to the Michel in central Hamburg. There will be reception and dinner before we make our way to the Elbphilharmonie, one of the most stunning concert halls to open in the last decade. Tonight’s performance is in the main hall and begins at 8pm.

Day 2 
Today we visit the fine collection of medieval art in the Kunsthalle. There will be time to explore the markets in the afternoon before we meet again for a short talk on tonight’s opera. Dinner will be taken in a nearby restaurant.

Day 3 
Today we visit the atmospheric Dreichstrasse and the waterfront. Once again there will be free time to sample the city before we meet for dinner and a short talk about tonight’s opera.
