Each year and for the last few years, the music of Donizetti and his contemporaries has been celebrated in a highly successful and growing festival in his hometown of Bergamo near to Milan.

Performances take place at the Teatro Donizetti and the Teatro Sociale.

Itinerary 

Day 1 
We meet at the hotel in Bergamo, Donizetti’s home town, during the afternoon. There will be drinks in the bar followed by dinner at the hotel or a local restaurant. 

Day 2 
During the morning there will be a short presentation on Donizetti and some sightseeing around the city, especially the Citta Alta. There will be a visit to the fascinating Donizetti Museum which illuminates his colourful life.
Dinner will be served before tonight’s performance.

Today we visit the Accademia Carrara which houses a fine collection of Italian art and is one of the premier collections in Italy.

Day 4 
Today is Sunday and the morning will be free. After time for a light lunch, we will transfer to the Teatro Donizetti for the afternoon performance. Dinner will follow the performance during the evening.

Check out will be available after breakfast.

Bergamo has its own airport and is also an easy journey from Milan by train. The city is on two levels with the historic old town on a hill reached by a funicular railway. The tour begins at the hotel.
