Verona Opera Festival
The Barber of Seville
Aida
Turandot

The Verona Opera Festival,  founded in 1913 by the legendary tenor Zenatello, is an unmissable experience of wonderful spectacle and fine singing.  The colossal scale of the productions, the hushed thousands in the arena, the massed chorus and the intimate solos under the moonlight make this a truly unique experience.

This summer the arena will host a special season. It represents a wonderful opportunity to hear live music in the open air once more in this magnificent space.

The atmosphere in the arena is one of near tangible magic, one of the great cultural events of the Italian summer as we enjoy three nights of operatic magic under the stars.

We stay at the stylish, historic Due Torri Hotel (5*) which boasts elegant rooms, each with antique furniture, a fine rooftop terrace and views over the river Adige.
It is just a few minutes away from the Piazza del Erbe.

The arena is a magnificent space with seating for almost 14,000. Seats are in the Poltronissime which enables an excellent and comfortable view of the stage in the centre of the arena.

Day 1
We meet at the hotel during the afternoon for a sightseeing walk in central Verona including the tombs of the Scaligeri and the church of Sant'Anastasia before drinks, an opera talk  and dinner.
Day 2
This morning we explore the basilica of San Zeno and the medieval Castelvecchio which houses a fine collection of Renaissance paintings. After a free afternoon we meet again for an opera talk followed by dinner in the Piazza Bra. After this we stroll across to the arena for a performance of  Rossini's  The Barber of Seville.
Day 3
After a leisurely breakfast we head out to the vineyards of the Vallpollicella region for a wine tasting and lunch at a fattoria.  An optional dinner will be in a restaurant close to the arena before the evening’s performance of Verdi's monumental Aida
Day 4
A free day to explore the streets and piazzas of this beautiful city. Dinner will be in a restaurant close to the arena before the evening’s performance of Puccini's Turandot in a spectacular production by Franco Zefferelli.
Day 5
After a final leisurely breakfast guests are free to depart.
Solo travellers are most welcome to join the tour manager and assistant for additional tours and lunches throughout the tour. We are keen that everyone feels involved and gets the most out of the tour.

This tour can be extended by a day for those who wish to visit Lake Garda and Sirmione after the opera.

Easyjet, Ryan Air and others provide a range of low-cost flights to Verona Villafranca and Venice is just over an hour by train.
A easy coach or taxi connection from the airport takes around 20 minutes
