Itinerary

Day 1
We meet at the Castle Hotel in Taunton in the late afternoon. A drinks reception is followed by dinner.

Day 2
Our day begins with a morning visit to East Lambrook Garden, the celebrated cottage garden created by Margery Fish.
After time for lunch we travel to Barrington Court, a garden of the Arts and Crafts movement with planting schemes influenced by Gertrude Jekyll. Graceful planting and a beautiful Lily garden are worth seeing in this hidden gem of a Somerset Garden.

Day 3
Today we travel into Devon to visit two outstanding naturalistic gardens. Marwood Hill garden was created in the 1950's by Dr Jimmy Smart. It includes over twenty acres of fabulous planting around three lakes. It hosts remarkable plant collections amongst its nurseries.
After time for lunch we travel to RHS Rosemoor Gardens. The original garden was created by Lady Anne Berry who became a distinguished plantswoman. Her original garden is a diverse collection of plats in an informal setting. The RHS opened the garden in 1990 having created a formal, decorative area in a glorious woodland setting.

Day 4
This morning we travel to the 15th century Cothay Manor. Set in twelve acres this garden has been described as magical. It has been described as one of the best gardens in Britain. In the afternoon we visit the restored gardens at Hestercombe. With three centuries of garden design including a Georgian Garden, a Victorian Garden and the Edwardian Garden designed by Sir Edward Lutyens to planting schemes by Gertrude Jekyll. Hestercombe has been an inspiration to many over the decades since its restoration began.

Day 5
A leisurely breakfast before the tour ends and people depart.
