Glyndebourne Touring Opera in Canterbury

Verdi’s tale of romance and passion contrasts with Massenet’s fairytale fantasy in a new production by Fiona Shaw at the Marlow Theatre, Canterbury.



Arrive at the Falstaff Hotel in Canterbury. The hotel is a boutique 3* establishment in St Dunstans just three minutes’ walk from Canterbury West station.
After check in there will be a short talk on the first opera followed by dinner in a nearby restaurant. We walk over to the Marlow Theatre for tonight’s performance of Rigoletto.

The morning begins with a short talk about Donizetti. There will be free time for browsing the city before we meet for the afternoon performance of L’elisir d’amore. The dinner will be in a nearby restaurant during the evening.

Today we visit Canterbury Cathedral for a guided tour. The afternoon is free for browsing the fascinating streets of the city. We gather at the hotel for an opera talk on tonight’s opera, Rinaldo, which will be followed by an early dinner.
