Opera & Ballet in Leeds

We stay at the art deco Queens Hotel in Leeds for three nights of opera with Opera North and a double-bill including Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring with the internationally-renowned Pheonix Dance Theatre.
Informative talks on each of the operas will be complemented by visits to Temple Newsam House, the Thackray Museum and the Henry Moore Centre. There will also be time to explore the recently extended Victoria Quarter.

Itinerary


DAY 1

Arrive at the Queens Hotel after lunch for the first Opera talk during the afternoon. An early dinner is followed by the performance at the Grand Theatre.

DAY 2

After a leisurely breakfast there will be an introductory talk about tonight’s opera. After coffee we leave for Temple Newsam House and a curated guided tour. An early dinner is followed by the performance of The Rite of Spring and Gianni Schicchi at the Grand Theatre.

DAY 3

After breakfast there will be an illustrated talk about tonight’s opera. After coffee we visit the Thackray Museum and the Henry Moore Centre. Free time in the afternoon is followed by an early dinner in time for the final performance – Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

DAY 4

Guests are free to depart after a leisurely breakfast.

Dinner each night will be at the hotel or in selected restaurants near the Grand Theatre.
The Queens Hotel is adjacent to the city station giving easy access to trains from many parts of the UK. There is a half-hourly train service from London Kings Cross.
