This tour begins at the Hotel Pavillon Bastille which is very close to the opera house. We meet for welcome drinks followed by an introduction to Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. An eminently political opera where power struggles mingle with the storms of family life, Simon Boccanegra echoes the life of his composer - he who raised the standard of Italian unification and overcame the loss of his wife and children. Calixto Bieito, the most Shakespearean director of opera, offers humanism and truth to this work haunted by twinkling maritime images.

A morning visit to the Maison Victor Hugo in the Marais followed by a tour of the Palais Garnier.
An opera talk is followed by an early dinner before our evening performance of L’Elixir d’amour. Set in a lost village in the Italian countryside at an inn on a road where only a dog passes. A landscape so deserted that the droning arrival of Dr. Dulcamara is a sensation and for good reason! It is said that he is the inventor of a mysterious love potion. At the opera, love potions sometimes provoke terrible tragedies. They can also be pretexts for this tender comedy where sergeant Belcore and timid Nemorino fight over the heart of beautiful Adina.
Direction musicale: Giacomo Sagripanti, Mise en scène: Laurent Pelly
Adina Valentina Naforniţă, Nemorino Vittorio Grigolo, Belcore Étienne Dupuis
